Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of uterine artery embolization in the treatment of postabortal hemorrhage.
Methods: A total of 8 patients with postabortal hemorrhage treated by uterine artery embolization from Jan. 2010 to Mar. 2015 were enrolled, including 5 first-trimester postabortal hemorrhage, 3 second-trimester postabortal hemorrhage.Vaginal bleeding amount before and after embolization was compared, and their menstrual recovery situation was followed up.
Results: All patients were successfully treated by uterine artery embolization.Vaginal bleeding amount after embolization was less than before embolization (
P< 0.01).No severe complications occurred. The average time of menstrual recovery was (32.63±2.67) days.
Conclusions: Uterine artery embolization is an effective method to treat postabortal hemorrhage. It can avoid hysterectomy and preserve the fertility of women.
