Abstract:
Objective To explore the residents of a street in the suburbs of Shanghai to understand their willingness to see a doctor in community pediatrics, their awareness of the construction of community pediatrics and their service needs.
Methods From April to May 2021 and February 2023, some residents of this street were selected as survey objects. Convenience sampling was adopted, and the community health service center preventive health department outpatient clinic was used as the survey point; stratified random sampling is adopted, the kindergarten, primary school and junior high school in the street are numbered respectively, and a grade and a class of a school are randomly selected to conduct a questionnaire star sampling survey on the guardians of the students in the class.
Results According to statistics, 3 446 questionnaires were collected in 2021, among which 3 446 were valid. In 2023, 2 613 questionnaires were collected and 2 613 were valid. Relatively few patients chose community pediatrics in their willingness to see a doctor, and the willingness to see a doctor in 2023 was higher than that in 2021. The main reasons for choosing community pediatric clinic are close to home, convenient transportation and less queuing time. The main reasons for not choosing community paediatrics were the limited skill level of doctors, inadequate medical equipment and limited range of drugs. Logistic regression results showed that whether the guardian was a staff member of the medical system and the awareness degree of community pediatrics were influencing factors of the willingness to see a doctor in community pediatrics.
Conclusions There is a great potential demand for community pediatric services, and it is necessary to set up pediatrics in community health service centers. At present, residents have a low awareness of community paediatrics, so it is necessary to further strengthen the publicity of community paediatrics construction, further improve the paediatrics service capacity of community medical staff, and allocate corresponding drugs and facilities.
