Abstract:
Diabetes mellitus is a common systemic disease mainly caused by glucose metabolism disorder, which has gradually become a serious public health problem in the world. There have been many studies on diabetic retinopathy, but the ocular surface diseases related to diabetes have not been fully understood. Diabetes can increase the risk of ocular surface diseases, including dry eye disease, keratitis, persistent defects in the corneal epithelium, and even the formation of blinding corneal ulcers. This paper focuses on the correlation between diabetes mellitus and ocular surface diseases, introduces the changes of corneal nerve as an index to evaluate diabetic neuropathy, and discusses the treatment of diabetic related ocular surface diseases, so as to provide help for early screening, diagnosis and treatment of diabetic patients with ocular surface diseases.
