Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of increasing adenoma detection rate (ADR) by adding indigo rouge in enteroscopy with water exchange method.
Methods Patients were enrolled prospectively. Colonoscopy was performed with routine water exchange (control group) or with 0.008% indigo carmine added water exchange method (study group). The primary outcome of this study is ADR.
Results Totally, 202 patients were included (101 cases in each group). There were no significant differences in gender distribution, mean age, smoking history, family history of colon cancer, and colonoscopy indication. Cecal intubation success rate was 100% in both groups. ADR was 31.7% for control group and 45.4% for study group, with significant difference (P < 0.05).
Conclusions Adding 0.008% indigo rouge in enteroscopy with water exchange method enhances ADR significantly.
