Contrast-induced nephropathy refers to acute kidney injury secondary to exposure to intravascular iodinated contrast agent. In recent years, a lot of evidence has confirmed the effectiveness and safety of statins in the prevention and treatment of contrast-induced nephropathy. This article reviews the latest research progress of statins in the prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy from the aspects of dose, type, duration of medication, impact of individual differences on the efficacy of statins, and the possible mechanism of its kidney protection effects..
