Abstract
Objective:To investigate whether C19orf28 has prognostic value for patients with gastric cancer (GC). Methods:Immunohistochemical staining (IHC) was used to detect the expression of C19orf28 in 141 GC tissues and adjacent tissues (5 cm from cancer tissue). Results:The expression of C19orf28 in GC tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues. There was no significant difference in the clinicopathologic features of patients (n=43) with high expression of C19orf28 and those (n=98) with low expression of C19orf28. The overall survival (OS) of patients with high expression of C19orf28 was significantly shorter than that of patients with low expression of C19orf28 (P=0.000 3). The mean survival time of patients with high expression of C19orf28 (23.40 months) was statistically shorter than that of patients with low expression of C19orf28 (38.35 months, P<0.01). Cox multivariate risk regression model analysis results showed that C19orf28 expression (HR=2.34, P=0.005, 95% CI 1.30-4.21) was an independent predictor of poor prognosis in patients with GC. Conclusions:The expression of C19orf28 protein in GC may be related to the poor prognosis of GC patients, and it has potential application value in predicting the prognosis of GC patients.
