Research progress on delayed encephalopathy and cerebral autophagy caused by carbon monoxide poisoning

  • The incidence of delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning (DEACMP) is high, which causes agony and economic burden to patients and their families. The pathogenesis of DEACMP is still unknown. When carbon monoxide poisoning happens, carbon monoxide can activate autophagy of brain cells through many pathways. Autophagy is involved in the onset of DEACMP, but its levels and roles at different stages of the disease have not reached a unanimous conclusion.
