Preliminary trial of excimer laser coronary atherectomy in managing complicated coronary lesions

  • Objective:To evaluate both feasibility and safety of excimer laser coronary atherectomy (ELCA) in managing complicated coronary lesions. Methods:Two patients with complicated coronary lesions, which could not be treated by balloon, underwent ELCA. Two technical parameters were selected with 40-60mJ/mm2, 30-40 pulses/s of frequency. The coronary plaque was treated 2-4 times by ELCA, which took no more than 10 minutes. Results:With the ELCA catheter gone through both lesions, the balloons dilated completely and stents implanted, both patients achieved the revascularization without any complications. Conclusions:ELCA is easy to operate with good effect, which can be a new choice for patients with complicated coronary lesions.
