Preliminary trial of excimer laser coronary atherectomy in managing complicated coronary lesions

Objective：To evaluate both feasibility and safety of excimer laser coronary atherectomy (ELCA) in managing complicated coronary lesions. Methods：Two patients with complicated coronary lesions, which could not be treated by balloon, underwent ELCA. Two technical parameters were selected with 40-60mJ/mm2, 30-40 pulses/s of frequency. The coronary plaque was treated 2-4 times by ELCA, which took no more than 10 minutes. Results：With the ELCA catheter gone through both lesions, the balloons dilated completely and stents implanted, both patients achieved the revascularization without any complications. Conclusions：ELCA is easy to operate with good effect, which can be a new choice for patients with complicated coronary lesions.
