Abstract:Objective:To investigate the differential diagnostic value of virtual touch tissue imaging quantification (VTIQ) in non-lactation mastitis and breast cancer. Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 24 cases of non-lactation mastitis and 51 cases of breast cancer during the same period. The clinical manifestations, ultrasonic imaging, and VTIQ data of the two diseases were compared. Results:Conventional ultrasound was difficult to differentiate 24 patients with non lactation mastitis from 51 patients with breast cancer, but the velocity pattern diagram of elastic shear wave and the quantitative analysis result of SWV were obviously different. Most of the non-lactating mastitis lesions showed green images (19 green and 5 between red and yellow). The lesions of breast cancer showed almost red and yellow images (45 red and yellow and 6 green), the difference between the two had statistical significance. SWVmax, SWVmean, and SWVmin of breast cancer lesions were higher than those of non-lactating mastitis, and the difference between the two groups had statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the normal tissues around the tumor. The pathological results were taken as gold standard, then ROC curves were plotted for the shear wave velocities of two types of lesions, the results showed that the area under SWVmax, SWVmean, and SWVmin curves was 0.725, 0.758, and 0.729. Conclusions:Conventional ultrasound combined with VTIQ can improve the differential diagnostic performance in non-lactation mastitis and breast cancer.
