Abstract:Objective:To explore the value of six free microRNAs (miRNAs) in gastric juice in diagnosing gastric adenocarcinoma. Methods:Totally 53 patients who underwent gastroscopy in 2013 were enrolled. The free miRNAs in gastric juice were extracted and detected by quantitative reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction assay (qRT-PCR). The patients were divided into gastric cancer group (24 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma) and control group (16 cases of gastric ulcer and 13 cases of chronic gastritis). The nonparametric Mann-Whitney test was used to compare the miRNAs expression in gastric juice between the two groups and the area under receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy. Results:All of the six miRNAs had an increased tendency in gastric cancer. Compared with control group, miR-17, -18a, -20a, -21, and -378 were significantly increased in gastric cancer group (all P<0.05), and miR-17, -18a, -21, -378 had a moderately diagnostic value, while miR-20a and -106b had a lowly diagnostic value. Conclusions:Free miRNAs in gastric juice have potential diagnostic value in gastric adenocarcinoma.
