Abstract:
Gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM) represents an extended application of peroral endoscopic myotomy to the pyloric sphincter. Since its first implementation in 2013, G-POEM has been employed in the treatment of refractory gastroparesis, congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, and other conditions, achieving favorable outcomes. Currently, there is no unified expert consensus in China regarding the indications, contraindications, endoscopic procedural standards, and perioperative management of this technique. Therefore, based on evidence-based medicine principles, Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopology, Digestive Endoscopy Specialty Committee of Shanghai Medical Association and China Anti-Cancer Association Committee on Holistic Integrative Endoscopy and Laparoscopy in Diagnosis & Treatment organized domestic experts in relevant fields to provide expert recommendations concerning the understanding, procedures, and postoperative management of G-POEM for the treatment of gastroparesis and congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis in infants through collective discussions and voting, aiming to offer reference and guidance for clinicians and medical institutions engaged in related work.
