Abstract:Objective: Aimed to use surface EMG to investigate whether there is a change in the activation pattern of the trunk core muscle group in patients with ACL injury. Methods: From June 2017 to February 2019, 15 recovered patients after ACL reconstruction and 15 matched healthy people were recruited from Shanghai Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital as research subjects. The wireless surface electromyography was used to collect the EMG signals of the trunk core muscles such as the bilateral gluteus maximus, gluteus mediums, lumbar multifidus muscle (L5~S1), lumbar erector spinae, and transverse abdominis when the two groups of people in the left and right single leg static standing, knee flexion 15° single static standing and dynamic knee flexion 15° single leg standing with full extension of the contralateral hip. The two groups of subjects were tested for bilateral thigh muscle circumference and maximum knee extension strength. The symmetrical differences in the activation of the bilateral trunk core muscles, the thigh muscle circumference and the maximum knee extension strength were compared and analyzed between groups. Results: There was no statistical difference in the symmetry changes of core muscle activation between the two groups of subjects when on single leg static standing. In knee flexion 15° single static standing, compared with the control group, the experimental group had a smaller difference in the symmetry of the gluteus maximus and a larger difference in the symmetry of the transversus abdominis (P<0.05, P<0.01). In dynamic knee flexion 15° single leg standing with full extension of the contralateral hip, the symmetrical difference in the activation of the transverse abdominis in the experimental group was larger than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: There are asymmetric changes in the activation mode of trunk core muscles in patients with ACL injury. In the rehabilitation of patients with ACL injury, it is necessary to increase the stability of the trunk core muscles. |
